FAQs     (Frequently Asked Questions)

How do I know what dates are available for my group to rent or attend camp?
At the bottom of every page, you will find a link to our camp calendar. Click the link and see what's available.

What is the capacity of the camp?
CLEC suggests a maximum of 80 participants with room for staffing, as well.

How much will it cost my group to attend programs? to rent the camp?
These questions are best answered by the Director through email or phone conversation to determine the needs of your group.

I really like what you do - how can I help support your organization?
We welcome whatever support people have to offer from volunteering to monetary contributions. Please check out our Volunteer and Donate pages. You are welcome to share your ideas with our Stewards Group, too.

Are pets welcome at the Education Center?
Unfortunately, we are not able to allow animals due to allergies issues and ecosystem impacts. This means pets are not allowed on the campus or in the buildings.

What kind of waterfront activities are available?
Clear Lake Education Center has a dock for use by groups renting or attending programs. There are canoes for rent, as well. State licensing requirements for some groups require a certified lifeguard for many waterfront activities. Most rental groups contract their own staffing for this purpose.

Does CLEC only offer programs at the Education Center?
NO! We have some programs that can "travel" to your location. Please consult our Programs page and Contact Us to discuss your options.

How can my group use the high ropes challenge course?
Clear Lake's high ropes challenge course may only be used with certified CLEC staff supervising and facilitating it. If your group would like to do the course, each participant will have to submit a completed and signed permission form, in advance of your scheduled date.

I really enjoy working with youth - how can I join your team or volunteer?
Check out our Get Involved section for Volunteer and Employment Opportunities and details.

When can I or my group visit the camp?
Because of camp licensing requirements, we cannot have stray visitors at the Center. Any visit must be scheduled in advance. We try to respect the privacy of other groups by not offering visits when they are renting. We do offer an annual Public Day when all visitors are welcome to explore the campus and what we have to offer.

What are the rules or guidelines for participating on the high ropes challenge course?
Participants must be 12 years old or older. There are some height and weight restrictions based on the course and our equipment. Please Contact Us to discuss further and schedule a visit.

What kinds of programs can we have for our group?
Clear Lake has educational, interpretive, and recreational program offerings. School groups enjoy a variety of place-based, standards-aligned classes - these are scheduled with CLEC staff.
Rental groups may schedule a specific program in advance with the Director. Programs have fees associated with them - please Contact Us for details.

Clear Lake is operated as a partnership which includes Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency, and Hiawatha National Forest.
